Reading material | GARDEN OF CLAY Christa Zeitlhofer´s ouevre simultaneously connects, anchors and spreads unseen subterranean layers and strands like rhizomes in amorphous porcelain. Her works change in texture, colour, shape and size, solidifying into sculptures with cracks and extrusions that sprout powerfully from their interior. In her series „ellipsoide / eier des lebens“ (ellipsoids / eggs of life) Christa Zeitlhofer bathes the „Garden of Eden“ in coloured light. The golg, violet and blue „deformed circles on elliptoids / bags“ seem in some way to be void of any meaning and her yet full of mystery. |

In contrast to this, the coloured „squares“ tend to lead a life of their own. The fertility of „The Garden“ is reflected in a variety of forms and colours used in Zeitlhofer´s work, whereas the „clutch“ of colourful ellipsoids expresses simultaneously the vulnerability and fragility of both nature and us humans. Each element of the „Garden of Eden“ holds its own story, telling on the existence of mankind along its stories and haptic memories, of its failures and creativities. Christa Zeitlhofer
